I've a FitBit which was great for a week. Once I had gathered a week of data I realised that I don't exercise or sleep enough and I wake up several times a night. I was happier when I didn't have that information to hand 24/7. So I haven't worn it since.
lol...........just love the man maths in this statement!

Never buy the first release especially with new ground-breaking tech like this. Wait for Mk2 or SP1! Not for me but then I have never worn a watch at all ever. If you have the money and want one have it. Do you need it....no....nobody does.

I live in almost a field and like being switched off. Not able to switch off yet 100% but will love the day I can. You can't switch off with that on your wrist all day. I like the idea of books, libraries and an old fashioned wrist watch. Some of this tech is great but is it really enriching our lives or taking away. For me it is taking away. Get on your bike, go for a walk and climb some trees kids

Thanks, OK, decision made, I will hang on a bit longer then I will probably buy one when they lengthen the battery life in a future release.

I love gadgets, and I love watches (have several) also am an apple fan - we run several apple products (3 desk tops, laptop, two ipads and iphones).

The apple watch though just isnt me. I'm sure they will be a big hit but I would feel like a dick wearing one.

Do you really need a smaller phone attached to your wrist? They look awful, as mentioned, they suit a child but anyone over 18 should wear a decent watch.

Thats what I though until I saw one and as you, reminded me of the blutooth earpieces.....for dicks but TBF I did not notice the Apple watch on the guy for about half an hour and in its normal state, its just a black screen.

I liked it and it allayed my fears that it was a dickmiester gadget.

Totally my thoughts, but recently I am wavering.

Mate has one and it works surprisingly well as a hands free device, the vibrate function is more noticeable than on the phone and they don't look as bad as I thought they would. Spent an hour at the Genius bar the other day and watched the demos going on and was quoted tempted.

Historically the first generation of any Apple devices seem to go up in value even though they are low tech but I suspect there are too many watches for this to happen. Still might though I love my watches and like the idea of a watch that moves the goalposts even if the direction isn't clear.

but does it move the goalposts really? most of the reviews of the android based sony 3 are pretty good, and it seems to do most of what the apple does but at about a quarter of the price...........and it is just as ugly ;)

Fed up with colleagues and clients ringing to say 'have you read your email' when they only sent it 5 minutes previously!
Could not cope with an annoying watch on my wrist that does the same thing as an annoying smartphone that constantly beeps and vibrates for attention! At least you can leave a smartphone in a draw and only check when you want to check!

The Apple watch is not for me. I cannot see anything it does that I do not already have on my iPhone, iPad, laptop etc.
I also have a small collection of vey nice, expensive watches that I'd much rather wear!

The poor battery life is the killer for me, the latest Pebble lasts 7 days, which is more like it. I think I'll get a cheapie on eBay and see how much I use it.

Apparently the watch acts as a filter to all those annoying alerts, you can set it to only alert you for certain people & messages so even if you have 20 apps on the phone that vibrate when something happens, you only have two on the watch. That way each time it alerts you, it's much more likely to need attention, and much easier to both view and ignore if you don't want to deal with it now. Still, I'm not going to get one as I've already cut my phone alerts down a lot. Maybe one day.

I'm waiting for Omega or Panerai to enter the market with a crossover version. It must be harming sales so I suspect they'll have to move with the times. A nice steel chrono Swiss movement with a Qualcomm driven display perhaps? Like breitling do with their aviator range.

My Tag could work as a smart watch having the adaptable display behind the hands. I'm sure they are working on it in their R&D department!
