As can be seen by the radical change in posting, the new site is clearly causing issues :) I mean, AndyK and I in the top 10. Who'd have thought!
OK on a serious note, I can hardly recall what the old site was. Having been intimately involved in GDPR and technology, I'm glad I wasn't in Matt's shoes. As far as I can tell the new software works absolutely fine and is no worse than any other forum I frequent.
*Far more* importantly is the quality of information and help available here which currently shows no sign of reducing. The banter remains, well, the banter ;)
Onwards and upwards say I

C

I’m with Steve3200 Something must be wrong numbers are down and the posts are down as you rightly say you and AndyK are top posts setters with a 69 and 46 post count always used to be 100 plus for the top couple

Is it me or the forum has been less active (nbr of posts) since the new website went live?
Or is that anecdotal?

I was on holiday when the changes took place, and was really puzzled when I got home and couldn't get on the forum for three days, kept getting 'error 404 website not available' but eventually found my way here, and have to say wasn't a fan of the dark style, but soon got used to it, and am more than happy with the new lighter version. Have to say that as its a 'free to use forum' I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to criticise, too strongly, we are so lucky to have people like Mat who put in so much time ,effort and money providing this invaluable resource for us.

Posts are about the same, we are working on the full league table and it used to be 140 to about 170 normal in a week users posting.

The logged on users at the bottom works on a much shorter time frame hence the lower numbers.

I'm OK with the new site except for the tiny 'New posts' button - it's the only button I really use

I must say I am a little dissapointed in your attitude, we spend 9 months and £12k to bring you this new site, all of which was funded from the sponsors and my own pocket....for which we ask for nothing from our members.

Inevitably some people will struggle with change, and be nostalgic for the 'good old days', and I can understand why one might be a bit peevish on hearing about that, having put in a lot of time and money to create the new version. But I think it is fair enough to express disquiet, although constructive comments are more helpful than generalised criticism.

I'm getting used to the new site and starting to see the advantages, while learning how to work it. As the managers find time to tweak things, I would certainly like to have less 'stealthy' buttons (see pic), and maybe a bit less 'screen turf' used up at the top of the screen - fully half my screen is logos, pictures and headings at the moment. Also, with its strong red & green colouring (understandably) it would be worth having it looked over by someone who is R-G colour-blind (about 10% of males).

Bolton is twinned with Le Mans, in fact we used to have a 24 hr pedal car race on Leverhulme Park every year. Le Mans start and everything....

I'm surprised that they still do the Le Mans Start , it is dangerous you know, drivers have been known to not buckle-up their seatbelts before driving off... ;-)

Quantity of posts versus quality of posts?

Catman and AndyK talking carp (No Offence!) or a single post telling you how to strip down wheel bearings in glorious technicolour? People tend to bounce off each other too (banter!) and that tends to boost the number of posts. Take the Le Mans thread for example, in the run up it was a flurry of activity, now nothing as we're all on the come down or busy working (including me!)

Thanks for the feedback Mark, your requests regarding the buttons have been sent and the login session time will be increased to the same as the previous forum.

We are also working on the League Table (hence the dead link in the main nav) so we can best get a comparison against the old site.

I have checked the posting activity against the same period of last year and its actually up slightly!
