I know there's a few threads on this. But is it an MOT fail? I've just been ignoring mine... and unfortunately I have the MOT on Friday...

I believe that any light is a fail...
Eb
I dont think that is a strictly true statement or at least I hope not as mine has the TPMS light on permanently - but as I understand it in the case of the TPMS the MOT check is only valid for vehicles manufactured after 2012.

As far as the airbag light I think that is definitely a fail.

yes air bag system must function including warning light going out after start up. Its safety related to its definitely part of the MOT. What car is it? I think the most common issue on the 3200 is the passenger seat switch in the door pillar, has a whacky resistor system which does not age well and just goes a bit wonky after a while, and can be replaced with an Alfa part. It needs an SD2 to clear the error I think.

Passenger light *should* self clear from memory, but Alfa part. 10 minutes work

4200 facelift year 2005. Am pretty sure it's only come on because power was off for awhile, charging the battery. The yellow passenger light is also permanently on, from the same time.

Annoyingly I also believe the light won't go off without dealer reset...
Though correct if wrong (hope I am wrong..)

Mine wouldn’t go off without resetting Chris.
If someone local to the op had a Texa diagnostic tool local to him should be able to turn it off.

I guess it depends on the precise fault. It did tend to take a number or start stop cycles. Of course, this was a few years back, now!

When I first got the car the airbag light come on, of course wasn’t covered by the **** warranty, ended up Grimaldi turned it off. Few months later it came on again, local bloke with a garage and owns a Ferrari had a Texa machine, £40 for about 5 minutes work.

It’s probably the passenger switch as said above. Remove it, clean the contacts, put the key in and work it a bit, get it reset.

My local mechanics diagnostic tool will do it and it’s not a Texa or an SD2 so others will do it too.

One lit, mine hasn’t gone out without a reset
