Sportscars in the Park - Newby Hall 5th May

She's 19? Where did the time go? I'm feeling even older now!

Sportscars in the Park - Newby Hall 5th May

The parking plan is out. It looks as though they've split the Ferrari and Maserati out from the main Italian grouping, don't want them stuck away in a corner. I'm in A4 - 1, which looks to be a good spot. Where are you all?

Sportscars in the Park - Newby Hall 5th May

All of the tickets are sold now. We should get a parking plan before the weekend. I'll be there with the FOCers, it would be good if they've put the Italian marques together. I'm coming from the north so will probably meet you there. I'm aiming for around 10 am.

    dash-cam: worth it?

That would get me a call from the tracking people. "Your car is moving without the ignition being on". I only ever park in the official car parks and park the car myself.

Oil and fuel. Thoughts and opinions

I only ever used 95 octane in my Ghilbi S. Mostly supermarket stuff, with the odd tank of Shell, then whatever I could get hold of in Europe. It didn't make any appreciable difference that I could see and saved a packet. Up and over the Swiss passes with 95 octane with no issues, unlike the poor...

Maserati UK sales (or rather lack of them)

I think it's the same Nettuno engine, which is itself built on the Alfa 90º V6 block IIRC, just lacking on the turbo front. It's a similar relationship between the two Ferrari built V6s from the previous generation. Its much cheaper to have a single engine with different turbo configurations...

Maserati UK sales (or rather lack of them)

I was at a Roma launch event at the local dealer. It looked really good in the colour they had there (pics below). I turned down a free trip to Italy to test drive one due to prior commitments, Maserati related, but am expecting a test drive later in the year. My problem with it will be the same...

Maserati UK sales (or rather lack of them)

They say they are profitable. There has been a new GTV/Spider in the roadmap for a long time. This is has also been slated to be made when they feel they are able to do it. At the moment I don't see the point in the UK. People would only moan about the cost and the lack of dealer support ;)...

Maserati UK sales (or rather lack of them)

We just replaced our Stelvio with a newer Giulia from our local dealer. It is one of the few left in the north of the country. The previous two have ceased being Alfa dealers since we bought cars from them. I don't know how Alfa can address the sloppy journalism that means that pretty much...

Keeping Ghibli diesel Engine Management light off.

    Funny or clever number plates

Spoke to the owner before I saw the car. He said he got the plate because his neighbour called him a "posing f@^&ker" for getting the car. Had to grab a picture after that.

    Maserati Connect Potential Security Issue

The latest Maserati, and all new ones going forward, come with Maserati Connect which allows you to connect to the car remotely via an app on your phone/watch. According the Maserati this gives you "the luxury of being in control". The system is the same as My Alfa Connect which has been in all...

Maserati Stolen In Less Than 60 Seconds.

Do these people live in a vacuum? There have been countless alerts about keyless entry hacks going back years. I'm surprised that anyone leaves keyless entry enabled at all. Flicking through the menu to disable it was done before my Levante left the dealers forecourt. That said, why the...

    Oulton Park, Monday 1st April

Same for me. If it’s not raining we’ll head over. Where will we be meeting to convoy in?

CHURCHILL INSURANCE RENEWAL PREMIUM UP 40%

I looked at the Lockton policy but the kicker was the 5000 miles limit. I like to drive my cars rather than just look at them ;) So in the end have gone with Footman James. Almost £1k less than my original quote, lots of options, including track day cover, agreed value, and unlimited miles.
